The cross at center and the rabbits in the bottom left corner make reference to Easter. The three children at right – one holding a melon, one feeding chickens, and one with a lamb – indicate the return of flora and fauna. To the left, a group of children blows bubbles into the air, a leisure activity identified with youth at play. The bell tower, wayside cross, and covered wagon evoke the Austrian countryside and bring to mind the idyllic landscape paintings typical of the period in Germany and Austria.
