Josh Simpson’s childhood fascination with science and space exploration has powered his imagination in glassmaking. He began making miniature worlds in glass that are reminiscent of planets in 1979 and has Simpson has spent his prolific career using the same techniques for making marbles and paperweights to craft his Megaplanets. Working to build up layers of glass on a larger scale is physically demanding for Simpson and his team. The domed glass sphere magnifies the tiny details embedded within that look like continents and oceans.
