After watching glass blowing demonstrations at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1970, Charles Lotton set out to become a glass artist. Largely self-taught, Lotton built his home studio and furnace in Illinois where he developed his own glass formulas for creating a variety of colors. Lotton’s early work revived glass art in the style of the leading early 20th-century American art glass firm, Tiffany Studios. He has had a prolific career making floral-inspired designs in a variety of forms, such as light fixtures, paperweights and vases, like the example seen here.
