KéKé Cribbs is known for her sense of experimentation in creating mixed media sculptural work. These three female figures are from a series that Cribbs made as an artist in residence at Bullseye Glass in Portland, Oregon. Brita, Bella, and Sibile illustrate Cribbs’ characteristic style with vibrant colors, patterns, and textures. Each features a glass skirt with imagery of exotic animals in vivid colors. Within the intricate details and craftsmanship, a playful sense of joy and whimsy permeates the artist’s visual language. Furthermore, the works symbolize the artist’s beliefs in the feminine powers of protection and intuition, as well as women as givers of life.
