The Stirk Family was a troupe of bicyclists, headed by Thomas M. Stirk from Birmingham, England. The troupe was brought to America by Tony Pastor, 1881, for a 2-weeks engagement and was immediately hired by Barnum, Bailey & Hutchinson for a 5-year contract, followed by 21 years performing on other American circuses. The Stirks are thought to be the first troupe of bicycle riders to appear in the United States.
