Early in his career, the glass artist David Huchthausen received a Fulbright grant to study in Vienna at the University of Applied Arts. Working in the small Austrian town of Baden bei Wien, located south of Vienna, Huchthausen produced a series of blown glass vessels inspired by his travels in Europe. The artist depicted a variety of nature-inspired subjects, from Alpine scenery with snow-covered mountains to stylized flowers, as seen on this vase.
