During the turn of the 20th century, Frans de Vos painted scenic backgrounds in Balegem in the northern part of Belgium. He came from a family of traveling actors and performers. De Vos drew from this background to paint these banners. Each depicts acrobatic and comedic acts placed within garden settings.
