A cymbal-playing satyr carries the young Dionysus, the Greek god of wine, shown wreathed and carrying a bunch of grapes. On the tree stump support hang items associated with the god: the <i>pedum</i> (shepherd’s staff), <i>syrinx</i> (pan pipes), and goat’s skin.
