Cypriot grave markers (steles) with figural relief carvings were inspired by Greek funerary reliefs. This man wears a Greek-style wreath. Yet, his drinking bowl (phiale) is of Achaemenid (Persian) form. People brought customs from across the ancient world to the port city of Salamis, where this relief was found.
