The tilt of this sculpture’s head, the upward gaze, and the curly hair falling over the shoulders recall portraits of Alexander the Great. Men, especially rulers, emulated his appearance in official portraiture. This sculpture may represent a man or the god Apollo, who was also shown with similar features.
