BiographyJohn Johnson Hallenbeck was an essential player in the printing industry. He was born in 1820 in Albany. Before partnering with M.B. Wynkoop and John Thomas to create the large-scale, well known printing firm known as Wynkoop, Hallenbeck & Thomas Steam Job printers, Hallenbeck also contributed to other printing firms. His printing experience includes E & E Hosford and Harper & Brothers (1842). Hallenbeck formerly held the position of president of the Typographical Society. Hallenbeck passed away in 1891, he was 71.

Matthew Bennett Wynkoop was a valuable asset for Wynkoop, Hallenbeck & Thomas printing firm. Wynkoop handled the finances for the firm. He was born February 16, 1830 in Zanesville, Ohio. Wynkoop printed the first few editions of his family’s genealogy book. Thomas withdrew from the Wynkoop, Hallenbeck & Thomas firm a few years after Hallenbeck joined. He was also a member of the Typographical society. Wynkoop died on March 30, 1895 in Western Pennslyvania.
