Bill Ballantine (1910 - 1999) was a writer and illustrator, who also worked as a sign painter, designer for the Office of War Information, clown, and the dean of Clown College. A prolific writer, Ballantine wrote ten books and contributed essays to major magazines, such as Colliers, Harper’s Bazaar and Saturday Evening Post. In 1947 he joined the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey clown alley and worked with some of the great clowns of the time: Lou Jacobs; Emmett Kelly, and Felix Adler. (Deborah Walk) -AJ 5/7/2024
