Most Cypriote pottery resembles standard types of other Mediterranean pottery traditions in their shapes and decoration. The most distinctive attribute of Cypriote pottery is creativity and humor - well evident in this example. A typical jug for carrying water is transformed into a highly original and witty form by having the spout decorated to resemble a woman carrying a similar jug.
