Barnum & Bailey capitalized on the four-hundredth anniversary of Columbus's 1492 voyage, presenting Imre Kiralfy's spectacle Columbus and the Discovery of America in 1892 and 1893. Strobridge printed nineteen different posters following the narrative of the Columbus story, including the ballets and tableaux that were part of the pageant. The posters served as a primer, allowing the public to familiarize themselves with the high points of the production before the show arrived.
