In 1964, the Hotta Watchmakers commissioned the celebrated print designer and painter Itō Shinsui to create four images pairing beautiful women from different historical periods with clocks. Here, a smartly dressed woman stands before a timepiece known as a “bonbon” clock for the sound made by its swinging pendulum.
