Recognized by other performers and the roustabouts for her kindness, Charlotte Shive befriended members of the Sara tribe billed by the circus as the “Ubangis.” Before parting ways at the end of the season, one of the women invited Charlotte to visit them someday in their home and presented her with this bracelet made by meticulous bending the wire from a bale of hay into a coil.
