If you look closely, it is possible to see that the design for the 1895 Sells Bros. Circus ticket features two hippos behind the show title. These same hippos were also seen in posters, and were likely prize features for the Sells show. In the late 19th century, the Sells Bros. Circus, based in Ohio, was a formidable rival for both the Barnum & Bailey Circus and the Ringling Bros.
