The artistic partnership of the husband-and-wife team of Libenský and Brychtová had an enormous influence on the Studio Glass movement, as they pioneered cast glass as a sculptural medium and taught generations of students. The artists developed the overall concept for each sculpture together with Libenský typically sketching a concept drawing in charcoal and Brychtová then translating the drawing into three-dimensional models. Their collaborative process spanned more than 45 years with an extensive body of large-scale abstract sculpture that is celebrated for its technical virtuosity as well as the conceptual explorations of a range of emotions and energies in relation to color, light, transparency and space.
