Like most other comercially printed materials, proofs were created for showowners to approve the designs for each season's tickets. This proof for a pass to the Gentry Bros. Famous Shows was intentionally designed without a year. That way the passes could be used for multimple seasons. It is possible to estimate the date of the proof based on the name printed on the side. J.D. Newman was one of the owners of the Gentry show from 1916 to 1922.
