Bracelets usually consist of two to four panels, often with carnelians. Those with a greater number of rows symbolize the greater wealth of the wearer and her (husband's) family. The pair with eight rows may have belonged to a woman of high status and great wealth. They may be worn either on a regular basis, or saved for special occasions. Carnelians are thought to protect the wearer from disease and to bring happiness. The pointed ends interconnected to keep the bracelets in position on the lower arm.
