The Woodcock family has a long circus history,
inlcuding animal trainers and circus owners.
Buckles Woodcock, who has performed with
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, Big Apple
Circus and other shows, began training elephants as
a child, working with his father. Barbara performed
as an aerialist before marrying onto the Woodcock
family. The Woodcocks were known for performing
with their elephant Anna May.
The Woodcocks, with their elephant, Anna May,
were featured performers with the 1978 Ringling
Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus and were honored
as Circus Celebrities in 1994.
