Incense burner stands with lotus petals were placed in tombs and appear in Phoenician scenes of worship. In Phoenician and Cypriot art the lotus may have symbolized rebirth, as in Egypt. Mounted on a wooden pole at the bottom, incense smoldered in a ceramic bowl (not preserved) on top.
