A storage amphora could be used to hold oil, olives, or wine. As in mainland Greece, a Geometric style of decoration developed on Cyprus-vestiges of which remained when the Orientalizing style was beginning elsewhere in the Greek world. This amphora is white with vertical and horizontal stripes and lozenges with cross-hatching, all common motifs in Geometric painting. Areas of solid white or black can also been seen, again common to the Geometric style.
