The shiny red color and tall cut-away spout of this jug compare with vessels made in ancient Anatolia (Turkey). Its shininess and color as well as the clay “rivets” that flank the handle may have been meant to evoke the appearance and form of a more luxurious copper-based metal vessel.

many small sand (more black than white), few medium lime and other stone, no large gravel observed, few small voids
