Era/Medium: Modern bronze cast of Roman bronze copy of Hellenistic bronze original Present Location: Museo archeologico nazionale di Napoli, Naples, Italy This statue of the Roman goddess Victory reproduces an ancient bronze work found at Pompeii in 1822 (National Archeological Museum, Naples) and is one of many copies produced in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. French painter Benjamin-Constant owned one such example, which he included in his depiction of <i>Emperor Justinian</i> (SN442). John Ringling purchased four copies of the <i>Victory</i>, in three different sizes, from the Chiurazzi firm in Naples.
