Two short operas were performed at the 1952 opening of the Asolo Theater, Mozart's Bastien et Bastienne and Pergolesi's La Serva Padrona. Eugene Berman, a famous stage designer for ballet and opera, designed both the set and costumes for La Serva Padrona. His watercolor sketches for these elegant garments and surreal settings were superb additions to the theater collection.
