Wax portraits are similar to painted portrait miniatures and commonly worn as jewelry and adornment. Giulio Genuino was an important figure in the history of Naples. He was a tribune of the people of Naples until after the Revolt of Masaniello, an uprising of the Neapolitans against their Spanish rulers. He was then made president of the High Court and a Judge of the Assizes.
