A garment made from banana fiber textile, lined with cotton at the shoulders and upper back. Favored in warm climates for its lightness and coolness, this textile was made and worn in the subtropics of the Ryūkyū Kingdom, later Okinawa prefecture, and exported to mainland Japan.
